HISTORY

The Ascoli Piceno historical archive contains a description dating back to 1300 of 'a castle on the Lama stream', built as a watch tower at the centre of vast fiefdoms due to its strategic defensive position with 360° visibility from the Sibillini Mountains to the Adriatic Sea. The architecture of the Borgo has left its signs over the course of seven centuries. The ancient castle crypt, today the kitchen in the old residence, has a typically 15th century arched design; the Oratory dedicated to San Pancrazio was built at the end of the 16th century, whilst the façade of the historic house was wholly added between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century. The Residenza San Pancrazio dates back to the early 17th century and gradually grew to its present size. It was designed as a dwelling for the peasants who worked on the estate.
