It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi,
a national monument, and to what is still very much a lived-in family home. Today,
we look after this heritage home not only as owners but especially as curators
and entrepreneurs.
Our ancestor, Giuseppe Carfratelli-Seghetti, a nobleman and entrepreneur, conceived
the 19th Century Romantic gardens - part of the elegant 18th Century villa - as
his vision of a Romantic retreat on the wild eastern coast of Italy.
Our family has lived here continuously since the 1750s and we take great pride
in sharing the house and its treasures, the historic park and the view of the
Sibillini mountains and Adriatic coast, with our visitors.
The Borgo Storico was the centre of a great agricultural estate, which provided
resources both to maintain the house and to ensure that the social fabric of rural
life remained intact. Today the villa with its adjacent farm houses is still privately
owned. |
In these last years we have worked hard to move with the times. Our enterprises
have expanded to include:
Le Marche Segrete, an Association of Private Historic Houses in Le Marche region which are open
for hospitality, events and guided visits with special tailormade itineraries
in the whole region.
I Tesori dell’Adriatico, a European Project expanding the concept of Le Marche Segrete to the whole
Adriatic coast of Italy and the eastern coasts of Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia
and Albania.
The Seghetti Panichi Cultural Association was set up in 2005. It promotes ancient and modern art and especially contemporary
art. The Association organizes every year, from September to November, an exhibition
dedicated exclusively to the theme of nature and the environment.
The “Princesse” collection, including luxury wedding decorations (table settings, wedding keepsakes, etc)
and special beauty products extracted from the plants in our gardens including
the palm oil body lotion, and the rose and iris perfumes. All items can be found at the Borgo and in our online shop.
We are constantly striving to ensure that the Borgo Storico continues to prosper
and bring joy to future generations of family, employees and visitors alike.
In 2000 we opened our home to guests and visitors and we are looking forward
to seeing the next generation grow up in such a beautiful place. We do not treat
the villa as a museum. We encourage our visitors to walk on the carpets and to
get close to the ancient furniture and treasures, as we do.
We are very fortunate to live in such an unspoilt part of Italy and invite you
to share the Borgo Storico with us - whether by enjoying a break in the bioenergetic
garden, a delicious meal in the old kitchens or by the pool, or simply strolling
under the shade of our precious olive trees.
We hope that you will enjoy finding out about the Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi
on this website and that you will visit us soon.
