Historical notes
Research has shown that the multifunctional space was a 17th century open cloister.
The cloister was an extension of the 17th century San Pancrazio Oratory which
over time was remodelled and finally closed. The long and rectangular « Sophora »
room (55mq, long and rectangular) had a series of arches supported by coloumns.
Nowadays, this room is attached to another spacious and squared room, called « Agapanthus »
(50mq) through an imposing arch with original barrel vaults in local brick work.
It was most probably an icehouse, ‘neviera’, with a large floor level opening
where fresh snow would be thrown in. The floor has been restored with the innovative
seamless « poliepo » resin, the first example in Le Marche region.
