The Piceno coast, 18 km (11.2 mi) from the Borgo also known as the Palm Riviera has always been a favourite destination for holidaymakers from Italy and abroad.
It is particularly attractive in the months of June and September for those who
want to be far from the crowd. San Benedetto del Tronto, Grottammare, Cupra marittima
and Porto S. Giorgio, which can also be reached along a splendid cycle-path from
Ascoli, offer a variety of characteristic beach "houses" and small restaurants,
where one can enjoy Adriatic fish cooked in traditional local recipes. The Piceno
Marine Reserve is now being completed. Also, not to be missed is the Europe’s
most important Shell Museum situated in Grottammare.
